This class is appropriate for students that have some painting experience, but want to advance in their painting, learn how to mix colors and find out how colors can be used to create three dimensional shapes and express realism.
Project 1: Iconic inspiration.
In this project you will paint on a wooden board with acrylics.
Instructor will demonstrate how you can create your own painting by using 2(two) portraits by different old masters ( William-Adolphe Bouguereau and Camile Claudel) as your inspiration: one is manly for the color scheme and the other for the expression.
Project 2: Mother Mary
This project will be created on a journal page with acrylics. You can just as well create it on a canvas.
Renata will demonstrate how to use ephemera to lay down the basic colors for the page and then dedicate a spot for the portrait of Mary and Jesus.
We will create a sketch and then use acrylic paints to find the colors that match the original 19th century painting – Our Lady of Good Councel.
Project 3: Iconic Elements
In this project you will create an Iconic box.
First we will practice small painting again inspired by William-Adolphe Bouguereau. Then you can find a small piece of flat wood or bark to paint on. We will ask this small piece if it can show us a figure or a portrait that we can recreate.
This will be a fun, freestyle project. Once we have our figure painted, we will place her into a small box that we will decorate with paints, paper, ephemera and other found elements.
