Hello dear artists!
Take a break this weekend and make some time for yourself to paint with us!
Last year, together with my artist friends, we recorded a few short videos of us painting landscapes. We hope you will find them inspiring and give them a try.
I personally like to take little breaks from faces and paint landscapes, especially outside, when weather permits. I also like to take pictures and paint from photos when it’s too hot or my time is limited.
As long as you follow these three simple tips, you will be able to create lovable landscapes. These tips can be applied to all the subjects, including portraits and still life, which is why painting landscapes is always included in traditional curriculums in all art academies.
Tips to creating beautiful artwork:
- Size: the farther the subject, the smaller it is. Easy! right?
- Color: the closer the subject, the brighter the color. With distance, objects lose the intensity of their colors and become dull
- Edges: the closer the edge to the viewer, the sharper it is; the farther the edge, the softer it is, until it completely disappears (lost edges).
* Extra tip for painting clouds: The lower the clouds are to the horizon line, the smaller they are (it is actually opposite from how objects look like under horizon line :))
This time we will have 3 challenges. You will have 2 weeks to complete each challenge.
Сhallenge 1 – July 17, 2021
Сhallenge 2 – July 31, 2021

Please share your work with us in album in our FB group “Olga Furman and Friends…” or on Instagram by using #landscapechallenge
And remember, the final result is not the goal, the creative process is what really matters.
