Olga Furman – hostess

Hello, and thank you very much for stopping by! My name is Olga Furman, I’m an artist and the hostess of this amazing collaborative program called PAINT YOUR HEART AND SOUL 2022!
I’m originally from Russia and have a pedagogical degree in Art and Music. Art is my life and it never gets boring because there is always something to learn! In 2019, I won 1st place in a juried exhibition at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, where I continue my art education.
I currently live with my family in Central New Jersey and work and create in my home studio. I’m married, have two teenage girls and a pup. All the family members are a part of our “Support Team” and provide administrative and technical support. If you have any questions – don’t hsitate to drop us an email to: pyhas2018@yahoo.com .

I always felt very conservative about online classes until I attended one myself and it completely changed my mind. I got hooked to online art classes ever since! The accessability to the lessons from your own home, on your own time, and the opportunity to play the same lesson or a segment of it and come back any time is priceless!
In 2016, I closed my physical art school to dedicate my time to online teaching. In 2017 I hosted our very first Paint Your Heart and Soul! 5 years and thousands of happy students later, it feels like an extended family from all over the world – I couldn’t wish for more!

Our main mission is to provide high quality art lessons for an affordable price. In PYHaS2022, we are so lucky to collaborate with over 30 amazing professional artists who are excited to teach in this course!
You will have an amazing opportunity to learn different styles, techniques, approaches, tips and tricks our instructors are using to create beautiful art. By joining a year long program you will be encouraged to consistently practice in a welcoming and supportive enviroment through our community on social media.

Luzdy Rivera – Mom, Daughter, Friend, Latina, Artist.

I love painting people! Bold Portrait and Figure art in the style of Abstract Realism/Expressionism using acrylics and mixed media. Born and raised in Puerto Rico – currently living in Massachusetts. My art is driven by human emotions through gestures, poses and expressions. My use of color is intentionally bold, with visible texture, marks and brushstrokes. I strive to create expressive and emotive art that is so much more than what I, as the artist, can see and feel, but more about what I can make others see, think and feel.

My name is Julie Ann Lee and I live in the UK in an ivy-covered cottage in a quiet London suburb, with my husband and son. I discovered the online creative community 10 years ago, creating 3D mixed media projects for blogs and magazines. Thanks to Olga who offered me the opportunity to teach and learn with PYHS 2 years ago, I met some amazing teachers and developed a passion for portraits. I never imagined I would fulfil my childhood dream to become an artist, but now in my sunny studio, overlooking the street, I am living the creative life I always longed for and that I love to share with others.

I graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1980. Later I achieved my Post Graduate Certificate in Education and remained in the teaching profession until taking early retirement 4 years ago. Through my art and teaching career, I have been fortunate enough to teach art to children of all ages and on retiral have provided therapeutic workshops to adults, helping support their ‘Recovery Journey.’

I now enjoy my days indulging in my passion for portraiture of both people and animals. I am fascinated with the contrasts of light and shade and the impact it has when reflecting on a living subject. For myself, it is also an outlet for expressing, understanding and resolving thoughts and emotions. I love graphite and charcoal in portraiture to convey the ‘Inner soul of a subject.’ While the world of pastel and acrylic allows me to experiment with colour and texture. I also enjoy mixing these for further unique effects. Two years ago I was introduced to digital art and I now also love creating digitally, it appears to have limitless possibilities. Much of my work is commission based but I also sell prints and exhibit and sell original works through my Facebook Page and in art galleries locally.

Hi, my name is Jacqui, I’m an Acrylic and Oil painter living and working in Northern Cyprus.  I’ve been here for 17 years now and live with my husband and two young daughters but I am originally from London in the U.K where I received my BA in Fine Art from Mıddlesex University.
I usually paint portraits and figurative pieces using multiple layers of markers, inks, stencils and traditional paint, I love playing with the relationships between my main focal image and the surrounding elements of the painting, pushing and pulling the foreground and background until I have one cohesive piece letting the layers and the history of the painting show!  Every painting is a journey with its own story to tell and I often have no idea what that story is until it’s finished!!

Most of her work is based around beautiful and strong women with influences in the lowbrow/pop surreal as well as the fantasy genres. For over 7 years I have held live workshops in my studio in Moscow, and in other cities and countries. In 2018 my dream came true – I established my online art school! At the moment, my school has 12 lessons on my techniques in Russian, and in the near future all the lessons will be available in English.

I was born in Poland and I studied at the Institute of Art Education of the Silesian University (2001-2006). In 2018 I completed post-graduate course in the field of Art Therapy in Germany and it helped me with getting back to painting after a long break and to “rediscover” myself as an artist. Since 2011 I am living in Switzerland and although I am currently working in a completely different area, I have a desire to share my art with others and to prove that it is never too late to make a dream come true. Every picture therefore conveys the message that every person is special/unique and has a talent. It also encourages to discover our hidden talents regardless of age.

A teacher inspires a young artist
In the 6th grade I had an art teacher, Mrs.Goddard, who saw a spark of talent in me. She ultimately took me under her wing, encouraging me to recognize it in myself. It wasn’t uncommon for Mrs.Goddard to send another student to pull me from class to help with large school art projects. Being one of the taller girls in school I never really felt like I fit in, so when Mrs. Goddard would request my assistance with various art projects I always felt special. I knew at an early age that this was a once in a lifetime experience. The watercolor carousel horse I was working on in Mrs. Goddard’s class eventually caught the eye of the school principal, Ms. Lee, and before I knew it, I had my first commission. Upon completion, Ms. Lee not only paid me $5.00, she also framed and hung it in her office. It was in that moment that I knew the importance of art and the impact it was going to have in my life. Forty years later and I am still creating, sharing it with the world and making a difference. I have THE BEST JOB in the world!

My name is Saskia van Drunen and I am a mixed media artist from the Netherlands. I live there with my husband, two kids and three cats. I have always been a creative child and I started painting, of and on, when I was about 18 years old. I painted all kinds of subject matters, from cats to flowers and also abstract art. But I have never had any formal training even though I would have loved to. Then, live happened and I studied while working full-time, got married and became a mother. I loved being a mother, but after my second child I struggled to find my balance. Dealing with all the feelings and emotions that surfaced was quite daunting for me. I felt the need to express them in a creative way. I had not picked up a brush for about nine years, but I gathered my brushes, bought some new paint and canvases and boy, did it feel liberating! And, I felt that creative spark again! It helped me heal, and connect on a deep level with myself. I wanted to improve my drawing and portrait painting skills. So I took some online classes and learned a lot of new techniques along the way. I love drawing and painting portraits, and to convey expressions and emotions.

If Tracy Verdugo was given the opportunity to coin a term for a new art movement based around what she teaches she might call it “Curiosity and Wonderism” or maybe “Loosen-upism” or “Endless possibilitism”. When she is not hanging out with her family in their artsy adobe home in a small village on the shores of Jervis Bay, Australia, or throwing paint around in her little purple studio in their backyard, you may find her painting beside thermal pools on an Italian island with an eager group of students, Aperol Spritz in one hand, paintbrush in the other, or sitting in a circle on St Pete Beach, Florida, listening intently as women share their stories of creative longing. Tracy is an inspiration instigator, prolific painter, bestselling author and lover of the written word, smitten traveler and soaker up of all that is beauty-full. She teaches her Paint Mojo and other creative workshops all over this amazing planet and reminds her students of the wonder that already resides within them. Her works are vibrant and filled with joy, inspired both by global travels and the simple beauty of the focused moment. Since 2000 Tracy has held 18 successful solo exhibitions and her works are held in collections both in Australia and internationally. Deborah is a full-time artist living in Manchester, UK, with her family in a house full of animals and love. Her influences come from the surreal, magical and fairy-tale worlds she has loved since childhood and developed through her time as a primary school teacher. Her earliest ambition was to track down Peter Pan and learn how to fly, closely followed by being a primary school teacher, where she hoped to ignite a passion for story and creativity in the children she taught. Now, though art and story-telling, she creates worlds where the impossible can happen – wonderful worlds where animals talk and big-eyed girls join them for unimaginable adventures. Her ideal day would include family, a blanket, pencils, storybooks, copious cups of tea and snuggles with her bunnies. She works mainly in graphite, pencil, watercolour and oils but is equally at home behind a sewing machine creating fabric art pieces with her curious creations. Shown and collected nationally and internationally, Deborah loves to create funny little friends for children of all ages.

I’m Francisca Nunes, a self taught mixed media artist living in Portual. Absolutly passionate about art journaling, I create intuitive art, mixing color, texture and nature elements. I always saw myself wandering around the crafts all my life, but nothing was that thing!! Until I find art journaling. From a science path as a Biology teacher discover that I could express myself through art, with no fear of others judgment, accepting my messy way of see things transformed my life, the way I see Art and the way that I allowed myself express my heart and soul. So, I define my art as explorative and expressive. I express my inside world through intuitive compositions. I incorporate nature as a medium to ecoprint and dye papers and fabrics and use them to create my own artjournals and to explore as collage elements.

I am a Mixed Media Artist living in Stockholm, Sweden. I found my unique creative spark and source within myself after many years of pushing it aside. For me it was all about the process, the doing. To actually get messy and just do. My process is very unstructured, tactile and yes, quite messy and through that I open up the magic of what is unique within me. I love painting big but I am also addicted to Art Journaling. I paint in many layers and create my art based on an interesting process where my imagery emerges while painting.  I have seen how my creative process and approach has helped the creativity blossom in me and in hundreds of my students and I’m so excited to share it with you to inspire you to expand and grow yours!

I love encouraging established and budding artists to explore experimental techniques with a variety of media to help express their unique creativity. Experimentation and making marks is what drives me in my artistic journey. Too many people see art as a product instead of an experience. Experimentation and play are vital parts of learning. If you are not prepared to make mistakes you won’t learn. Since the late 80’s I have taught art at high school level at various Durban schools in Kwazulu- Natal, South Africa  I am presently teaching at Reddam House Umhlanga an International private school.  Since 2009 I have been actively involved in both local and international exhibitions. Various local art studios and galleries have invited me to run adult workshops and present talks about art. I have taught online art lessons for various art associations since 2018. One of my biggest rewards is not only seeing an improvement in the technical quality of my students’ work, but also watching them use art to solve conceptual and emotional problems

Dena Ann Adams is an instructor, painter, and creative based in Minneapolis, MN.
Her studio is in the heart of the city, and her work strives to create moments and places of contemplation, tranquility, and re-connection through painting – soul-sustaining color and atmosphere in the midst of a chaotic and often demanding world.
Her teaching philosophy is that painting is a come-as-you-are invitation to creativity. We learn to paint and we paint at any and all levels with joy and curiosity. We paint both for painting’s sake but also because the practice of painting informs and enhances all the other practices in our lives – whatever they may be.
