Lora Murphy was born in Ireland and educated in Ireland , USA and Italy . Trained as an oil painter , she now works primarily in Encaustic and mixed media . Lora teaches workshops in Contemporary Portraiture in Encaustic throughout the world and online . She divides her time between Ireland and Denmark and maintains studios in both countries.”I have always been fascinated by faces and from childhood , that is what I really wanted to paint and draw .All of my schoolbooks had doodles of eyes and lips , faces and figures . I remember clearly the discovery of perspective . I was about 7 years old and I had made a drawing of a group of people . Suddenly I realized that if I made a line behind the figures I could place them in a room ..From that moment on I was totally hooked . I loved the old master Portraits and would look at them for hours , copying them in my sketchbooks and later trying to paint them . It was a real voyage of discovery and the joy and wonder of it has never left me . I still feel such a sense of amazement when I look at faces and try to analyse how the light hits and the cheeks curve or how the halftones can render the sense of volume . I love how the placement of colour can indicate shadows or reflected light and I get such a sense of joy from a portrait that I am satisfied with”

Katrina Koltes
I come from a childhood of often travelling, discovering, and seeing new places. Originally of German nationality, but born in South East Asia, we were full-time volunteers, doing natural disaster relief work in countries like Indonesia, Philippines and Japan. I think that’s one thing that greatly influenced my art later on. I love to cheer people up with my art and create beautiful worlds of magic and mystery, stories of hope and beauty.
I’ve now been living in Italy since about 16 years, am a full-time artist and mommy to two small boys. My inspiration and imagination is often fueled as my boys ask me to tell them bedtime tales of magical realms, fairies and dragons, mystical creatures, and nature spirits. I love to create story-art, poetry, and paint from my dream journeys. I now teach in various online workshops, and enjoy sharing my techniques to inspire others and find their voice through art.

Sabra Awlad Issa
I’m Sabra, a self-taught portrait artist from the Netherlands. For years I focused on drawing realistic portraits in pencil and pastel until I chose to focus on growing my business in application design and development. But I was always longing for art and became frustrated that my business needed all my time and energy, leaving me drained and very unhappy. Two years ago my son asked me, “should I do things that make me unhappy?”. As I was formulating an answer in my head, I thought to myself, “what am I doing?”. I can tell my son every out-of-the-box answer I know, but it doesn’t matter if you don’t act on it and be an example. A few months later I quit everything and started painting every day. I’ve never been more driven and content.
I love learning in the online community and sharing my own experiences with different materials. Paint, dry media, house hold products, I have no real favorites here; if I can create a face with it, I will use it at some point.

I’m an artist, graphic designer, artificer, calligrapher, decorator, parapsychologist, spiritual therapist. Educated at Art school in Budapest, working for movie networks as graphic designer for 15 years. I’m a Mom of 3 brilliant children, a boy and two girls.
I’m making art since my childhood and love to create and help people in person to find they inner voice. I’m an explorer, seeking for new mediums and materials. I paint with acrylics, oils, watercolors, silk.
Since 1993 I had numerous exhibitions in Budapest, Hungary. My paintings are in private collections worldwide. Since 2008 my art have been featured in several regional publications and exhibitions and art shows. According to the rush work of 15 years I always wanted to make paintings ready as soon as possible. In the past years I learned to calm down and enjoy the process and leave my expectations of the results. It is a hard way. This is what I use in healing therapy. The vibrant colours appear along my way of art which comes deep from my soul. I believe beauty joy love is necessary for life. I believe everybody is creative, just need a little help to remember.

Julie Ann Lee
I live in an Edwardian cottage in Bromley, Greater London in the UK with my husband and son. Our daughter lives almost waving distance away in a flat in a big old Victorian house among the tree-tops, squirrels and owls. My garden, the animals who share it with me and my family all inspire me because the best stories are often those closest to us.
I used to teach Drama and Literature, but I’ve always painted, drawn and told stories. Passionate about Miniature Art and the Renaissance, I like to use mixed media and found objects to re-imagine tiny Renaissance worlds in which animals and humans dwell in harmony. I believe that Art holds the key to unlock the timeless stories within us all.

I am a so called self-taught artist from Germany. I have no artistic education and the muse find its way to me very smoothly . My art wise initial ignition starts about 7 years ago as I discover Mixed Media. From this time on I worked in my journals daily. Very quick I fell in love with painting faces, so I practice them regularly but instead of studying the „realism-style“ I felt more satisfaction by letting them be kinda raw and undefined ….I love bold colors and scribbly lines and paint most of my work out of my imagination, also known as „hand pulled art“…So because of that, every painting is unique, unrepeatable and filled with joy and story!
I would love to share my passion with my students. Teach them to have confidence in the creative flow, in their own power. Lead them to enjoy every phase of the painting, good or bad, to find the magic spark of creativity that is inside of us, in everyone! That´s what I deeply believe!

Renata Loree

I am a mixed media artist, spiritualist and a born optimist, even though I might let myself down sometimes. And from all that turmoil of opposites sometimes striking agains me, it might be challenging to keep balance, but I work at it very day. I come to my canvas or my desk filled with pens and papers and I let all the turmoil out. I think the balance comes when what comes out can be shared and celebrated with others, but the work never seams complete. It’s as if the end was constantly running away from me, and so I am learning how to live in the moment and not aim for the end result. I look for love in all things, but sometimes love escapes me. I learned not to look for it outside of myself, and so as it weaves through me, it weaves out through my hand and right onto the painted surface where the images seam to take a shape on their own.
And so my art is a path to self discovery and art might be just the right way to do it.
I was born in Czech Republic, but at the ripe age 18 I left my country to travel far and see a lot. I wanted to learn by living my life, not necessarily being confined by stereotypes or obstacles. It has been a long road, but I think I finally landed where I want to be. I have a studio near Boston, my son is all grown up and I can now choose what I want to do – and that is to create and teach others how to do so as well.

I am mixed-media artist and teacher. Creating art is what sustains me, I love trying new things, exploring line and form, the joy of working with materials in different ways. Teaching others how they too can explore art and it’s many joyful moments is my passion. My aim is to make it simple and easy for anyone to follow along and see that they too can create art that tells their story. My creative process evolves more and more each day. I have a loose and free style and I love to feel that freedom of scribbling with my pencil, often with alternate hands, and to feel unconstrained by any notion of how it should be. I’m inspired by many things – mother earth and her many gifts, the longings of my own soul, and the miraculous magic of this life we all share. My gorgeous home high on a hill of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia is my haven, where I spend time with nature, get muddy in my pottery studio, and create drawings and paintings that my heart delights in. My studio is a delightful clutter of everything I love, and surrounded by various wildlife, kangaroos and natural vegetation.

Natalie Chamberlain Mecham

I grew up in Utah county, surrounded by the beautiful Wasatch Mountains. I spent a lot of my time with my older brother drawing and occasionally stealing his charcoal pencils to draw by myself. With fashion and National Geographic magazines I taught myself to draw portraits. I got married and moved to Idaho the year after high school. After a few years my husband and I decided to grow our family. We soon discovered we had fertility issues. During that time I had become very depressed and lost my desire to do any art. After years of trying we found out I was expecting. I started to do art again and this is when I discovered watercolors. Unfortunately, I went into preterm labor and our twin boys were born at only 23 weeks. They died two days after birth. I again went into a depression but this time I used art to help myself cope with the loss of our boys. About a year later I became pregnant with our twin girls. I gave birth to my twin girls at 29 weeks gestation. Finally, after two months in the hospital they were able to come home. I slowly got back into painting, first painting things to hang in the nursery. Then I started painting for other people, this began a whole new journey in my life.
I use mostly watercolor and graphite but I still experiment with any medium I can get my hands on. Through sharing my art online I have met so many amazing people. I love hearing their stories of how a painting of mine is connected to them. My girls are now four years old and I am able to do more art with them. I have discovered a passion for teaching and helping others express themselves through art.

Donna Munro

Born and bred in New Zealand, I moved to the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia 27 years ago. I am surrounded by inspiration from the beach to the bushland and country in this beautiful part of the world. I’ve enjoyed art from a young age. As a child I spent many hours drawing, colouring, painting and crafting. As an adult I’ve indulged in many and varied creative pursuits. Almost 10 years ago I completed my first large canvas painting and I’ve been hooked ever since.
I developed my skills by attending classes for 6 years with local award winning artist Victoria Fitzpatrick. Since then my skills have been furthered by completing a variety of other workshops and online courses.
My desire to experiment and try new things draws me to the excitement of mixed media and the exploration of different techniques and genres. Until recent years my work has been mainly semi-abstract. Lately, however my passion for creating faces has become so strong that few of my current pieces are seen without one. I even find myself revisiting many of my earlier paintings and adding faces! It is exciting to see my paintings transformed and revitalised. I enjoy producing a variety of faces in different styles, however, more often than not I strive to produce realistic portraits.
Being blessed with a wonderful and happy life, my work often portrays this through the use of vibrant, bold colours. It gives me great joy when my art resonates deeply with others or brings them warmth and happiness.

“I love to spend time in my studio, which is a place of refuge for me .
I sometimes likes to create in silence or with background music.
It’s a beautiful place. In this beautiful place there was unspoken poetry. The emotions are dancing! I extend the unspoken in an array of colors, feelings and poetry onto the surface giving it an existence, and engaging the viewer into my world created by my vivid imagination. My work are like dreams reflecting my experiences from daily life or just purely from my rich imagination. I love to blend colors into a cohesive interpretation of what I’m wanting to share with the world.”
