Course Description:
In this three week workshop, students will learn to create multi-layered mixed media portraits.
This workshop merges representation, abstraction, and self-expression. Although we will be working primarily with acrylic paints and water based mediums, we will combine them with various mediums such asoil paint, spray paint, collage, ink, oil sticks, oil pastels, etc. We’ll experiment using different methods of paint application and mark-making. We will look at other artists for inspiration and a deeper understanding of merging representation, abstraction and self-expression.
Some painting knowledge is required as we will not be covering basics.
We’ll be meeting virtually through Zoom, If you do not already have it, please download Zoom on your device.
The first half of the class will be dedicated to demo/ instruction, the second
half will be for questions, discussions and open critique.
