Lesson 1: Inspiration and Idea Generation
In this lesson you will discover inspiring ways to develop ideas, then how to choose and organize your ideas.
Instructor will demonstrate how you can find an idea and organize ideas and create a storyboard.
Lesson 2: Sketch Ideas
In this lesson you will learn how to develop your idea with a sketch before committing to paint.
Instructor will demonstrate several approaches to sketching your critter, with drawing hints and tips tucked in.
Lesson 3: Abstract Background Creation
In this lesson you will learn various abstract techniques for your character animal background.
Instructor will demonstrate how you can collage, add, and subtract paint, push and pull the paint with miscellaneous items found around the house, stencil, stamp and how to save “ugly” paintings.
Lesson 4: Painting The Snow Queen
In this lesson you can follow along and paint The Snow Queen
Instructor will demonstrate how you can transfer your sketch, start painting with a loose underpainting, adding layers of paint, create the look of hair, painting eyes full of life and adding finishing touches to give your animal more character.
Lesson 5: Painting The City Dog Blue
In this lesson you can follow along and paint The City Dog, a line drawing is included for you to copy, if desired.
Instructor will demonstrate how you can alter the size of your sketch, the layering of paint to create form, eyes, tricks to “fix” areas that you do not like, adding the final touches to the dog, and creating pearls and a hat.
Bonus : Painting Steampunk Wills
In this lesson you can follow along and paint Steampunk Wills
Instructor will demonstrate how you can layer the paint to create the look of fur/hair, audition other ideas, and finally paint the hat.
At the end of this course, you will have the skills to generate an idea for any creation and know ways to clarify and then organize those ideas. You will have more drawing skills to add to your “toolbox”. You will be able to create all kinds of non-representative backgrounds, and you will have the skills to create your very own character animal.
